UNEVEN GUMMING
Whenever there are signs
of uneven gumming, one has to check the pattern of the
gumming line.
| Causes |
Solutions |
| Excessive gumming at
both ends and insufficient gumming at the centre
or else insufficient gumming at both ends
and excessive gumming at the centre shows that
pasting roller / doctor roller is not even. |
The pasting roller
/ doctor roller requires regrinding. |
| When gap between the
doctor and pasting rollers are more or less than
require insufficient or excessive gumming can
occur (even when the rollers are even). |
Keep the gap between
the doctor and pasting rollers between 4 and 10
thou , depending on the type of flute. |
